The Missing Truth

I have been thinking about this for a while and decided it was time to write about it. I believe there is a truth,  so many people are looking right at but not seeing. This missed truth, is about saving the planet. Yes protect mother earth, bla bla bla.

But lets really look at this, and what this really means. Here are some examples.

If someone builds a building and its adjoining parking lot next to a forest of trees, tell me what really happens. Think hard here people.

The roots of the trees will eventually grow into the pipes in the sewer. They (the roots) will start to undermine the walls and foundation of the building. The ground under the parking lot will start to shift, due to water erosion. The pavement will crack and weeds will start to grow between those cracks.

We have great examples of this all though our major cities in this world.

But lets look even farther back. Look at the ruins of lost civilizations. The jungles which have over grown the temples in Latin America, the sands that have covered cities in all throughout Egypt and the far east, and then there is Vesuvius and Pompeii.

I believe, what we have here is not a passive mother but a aggressive lady with her own agenda. It does not matter what we do to it, the earth always bounces back.  If we ruin the water’s of the earth, she will create things that can live in them. If we pollute the air, the condors may die but the pigeon problem in the polluted cities is out of hand.

Now going back to that “missing truth”.

People we need to stop being such arrogant assholes in the name of ecology. The quest should not be to save the earth, the quest should be to save the people on it.

Just because humans can adapt to what this world gives us, does not mean we can survive our own tampering with what is natural. We can survive cold weather as in Oymyakon, Siberia, where temperatures of 90 degrees below zero Fahrenheit have been recorded.  We have also survived the heat of El Azizia, in Libya where the highest recorded temperature in history was at 136 degrees Fahrenheit.

A good example of our tampering with nature: Eating a chicken egg is a pretty natural thing for survival. Keeping chickens so tightly confined that salmonella poisoning spreads and destroys our chances to eat these eggs is not okay.

Then here is a real extreme example:  Defecating is a very natural thing to do. Defecating in our water supplies ? have you been to Venice, Italy?

Okay I will stop ranting now. But, I will finish by saying this, to all the eco-friendly activists out there.

Please, just stop for a moment and realize that asking people to save the planet is not working. Maybe then you will realize, asking them to save themselves, might work. When it comes down to it, humans all have the survival instinct no matter how far up the food chain we go. People are just animals inhabiting this rock, and if the earth gets fed up with us, she just might get rid of us all.

I am not saying the earth has a mind of its own but I do believe there is a balance to nature that maybe we don’t quite understand completely.
